BOSTON — The Boston Renegades announced last Friday that Patrick Pass will join their staff as the defensive backs coach. “The Renegades organization is very excited to have Patrick Pass join the coaching staff,” said Renegades Chief of Operations Mia Brickhouse. “His championship experience and dedication to the sport of football will be a tremendous asset to women’s football in the city of Boston.”

Mr. Pass, a former fullback for the New England Patriots, is a three-time NFL Superbowl champion. He played college football at the University of Georgia. More recently, Pass was the head coach of the Boston Freedom Fighters, a men’s development team in the now-defunct National Spring Football League.

This will be Pass’s first coaching position in a women’s football organization. The Renegades are lead by Don Williams, a longtime member of the Boston team’s coaching staff, now in his first season as head coach. Williams invited Pass to watch the Renegades play against their perennial rival, the DC Divas. “It just blew me away how hard the team was working,” said Pass. “I wanted to be a part of it from that day forth.” Impressed with what he saw, Pass began attending team practices and working with the team.

The Boston Women’s Football team has been coached in the past by other former New England Patriots players. Derrick Beasley, a former cornerback drafted by New England in 1987, was the head coach from 2007-2014 and guided the team, then known as the Militia, to three national titles (2010, 2011, 2014). He was assisted by fellow Patriots alumni Robert Perryman (Patriots RB from 1997-1991) and Vernon Crawford (Patriots LB, 1997-2000).

The Boston Renegades are currently 3-1 and hope to host playoff games at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville on June 27, July 11, and July 25.
