Kara Gailiunas of Falmouth, MA, joined the Boston Renegades women’s pro football team in 2022 as a rookie linebacker and was named to her first All-American team in 2024.

Gailiunas was an alpine ski racer. She started skiing before the age of 2 and started alpine racing at 8 years old. She moved to Vermont to attend a ski racing specific high school, Green Mountain Valley School. She went on to captain the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Team at Saint Michael’s College. Kara’s achievements in skiing include FIS Junior podiums, qualifying multiple times for the U.S. Alpine National Championship, and placing 2nd Overall at U16 CanAm (Canadian-American) Championship. Kara was also twice a Vermont All-State high school lacrosse player.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to have had a racing career that took me to mountains all over the world and across three continents,” says Kara. “Now football gives me a place to be challenged, to excel, and compete. There’s truly nothing like stepping out on the field and striving for excellence as a team.”
