“Football has given me new friends and a chance to challenge myself in every day life,” says Finnish national Janna-Jemina Seiles, who is better known as “J.J.” Athletic accomplishment has always been a motivator for Seiles, even when she was a child. “I loved running and the competitions,” she explains, “especially when there was a Snickers bar or orange juice as a prize.” J.J. played soccer in college before pursuing football.
J.J. has won two Women’s Maple League national championships; in 2016 with the Helsinki Roosters, and in 2021 with the Turku Trojans. And as a member of the Finland national team, she won a bronze medal at the 2013 Women’s World Championship, and a gold medal at the 2015 Women’s European Championship.
J.J. Seiles came to America in 2019 to deepen her skills and football knowledge with the Renegades. While the COVID-19 pandemic delayed her return, she joins Boston once again in 2022.
