Renegades Final Home Game – Saturday July 11 at 6 PM
BOSTON — The Boston Renegades welcome the Chicago Force to Dilboy Stadium in Somerville, Mass., on Saturday, July 11 at 6 PM in a rematch of one of the most exciting games in women’s tackle football history.
The first matchup between these two teams six weeks ago was the most watched game of the regular season in the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA), amassing over 2,000 views on YouTube. The Renegades came from eight points down with less than one minute left in the 4th quarter to tie the game at 24-24. The Renegades won in overtime 30-24 after stopping the Force’s 4th down rushing attempt.
“We are going to have to play 100% better this time around if we expect to win,” said Head Coach Don Williams. “The Force are a championship level team and we will need to play our best in all three facets of the game.”
The July 11 rematch with the Force will feature the WFA champions from three of the last four seasons, with the Boston Women’s Football team (known then as the Militia) winning the title in 2011 and most recently in 2014. Chicago won the title in 2013, beating Boston on their way to the WFA crown.
The Renegades enter the second round matchup following a dominating victory against the West Michigan Mayhem 59-12. The first ever playoff game for the Renegades featured a career day in the backfield by running back Stacey Tiamfook, who scored four touchdowns and ran for over 300 yards. The Force paved its way to Boston with a convincing 71-12 victory over the Cleveland Fusion in the opening round of the WFA playoffs.
The winner of this game moves on to play the winner of the DC Divas versus the Atlanta Phoenix on July 25. The WFA National Championship game will be played August 8 in Los Angeles, Calif.
Admission is $10, children 6 and under are admitted for free. Somerville residents with student IDs admitted for $5. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
