After playing on the men’s varsity team at Shimane University and with Lady Kong women’s football league in Japan, Noriko “Niko” Kokura chased her dream of playing football in the United States. She became a long-time member of the Sacramento Sirens from 2008–2013, and earned an IWFL All-Star selection in 2010.
Noriko joined the Boston Militia in 2014, winning a WFA National Championship. She was also named the 2014 WFA Defensive Player of the Year. She continued on with the Renegades in 2015 and was named a WFA All-American in her final season.
Kokura is one of Japan’s most experienced and accomplished female football players. As a result she has also taken on coaching assignments for the Asahi Soft Drink Challengers and IBM Big Blue, men’s teams in Japan’s X League.
