REVERE MA — The Revere-based Boston Renegades advanced to the Women’s Football Alliance championship game with a 42-24 win over the Pittsburgh Passion Saturday at Harry Della Russo Stadium. Tytti Kuusinen #46, a native of Finland currently living in Revere, powered the Renegades with four touchdowns and [157] yards rushing.
The victory gave the Renegades their fifth straight WFA National Conference title. They will face the Minnesota Vixen July 10 at Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio for the league championship.
The undefeated Renegades fell behind, 6-0, in the first period Saturday, but a pair of Kuusinen scores gave the Renegades a 14-6 halftime lead. The Renegades broke it open in the second half on the way to a convincing win.
The team plays its regular season games at Harry Della Russo Stadium. Revere residents include Amanda Alpert #50 who in her full-time life is Athletic Director at Chelsea High School; Steph Jeffers #66, who grew up in Barnstable and starred in track and field at Barnstable High School and then at Jacksonville University and Tulsa University; and Laura Pula #72, who is an Army veteran and a professional barber. Kuusinen has starred in the European Maple League, where she was MVP in two league championship games.
