REVERE – July 10, 2021 – The Boston Renegades are headed to the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA) National Championship for the fourth season in a row.
Quarterback Allison Cahill threw eight touchdown passes as the Boston Renegades torched the previously undefeated Tampa Bay Inferno 63-3. The victory clinched Boston’s fourth consecutive conference championship and a berth to the title game to be held in Canton, Ohio.
Earlier this year, Hall of Fame Village (HOFV) President and CEO Michael Crawford announced the newly renovated Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium would be home to the WFA National Championship. The Hall of Fame Village in Canton, Ohio includes the stadium, the Pro Football Hall of Fame Museum, the National Youth Football & Sports Complex, as well as hotels, retail stores, performance centers, and a water park. This year’s championship weekend marks the first in a five-year partnership between the WFA and HOFV.

A Career Day for Cahill
#7 Cahill broke the 400-yard marker for the second time in her career, throwing for 404 yards on 26 completions to nine different receivers. Her eight touchdown passes set a career mark for the 17-year veteran. #87 Emily Beinecke reeled in five passes, including the longest of the night, a 58-yard touchdown strike. She finished with 91 yards and two scores. #3 Stephanie Pascual grabbed a team high eight receptions including a spike. #10 Adrienne Smith hauled in four passes for 79 yards and two touchdowns.
Running back #8 Chanté Bonds rolled up 116 yards and a score on 14 carries. She topped the century mark for the fourth time this season. British transfer #22 Ruth Matta finished with 107 all purpose yards and a touchdown reception.
Dominant Defense
The Renegades defense stymied the Tampa Bay offense, holding them to a single field goal. The Inferno entered the contest averaging 45 points per game. Defensive End #68 Sam McKay had a strip sack with a fumble recovery. Linebacker #46 Hannah Jennings and Cornerback #24 Briannah Gallo also collected fumbles. Defensive End #70 Danelle Fournier had six combined tackles, two for losses.
On special teams, #40 Vanessa Aukshunas continued her season-long perfect streak on extra point kicks going 6 for 6. #11 Sarah Tully was also a perfect 3 for 3.

Mission Threepeat
Representing the National Conference for the fourth consecutive season, Boston will square off against the Minnesota Vixen of the American Conference in the WFA National Championship. The Vixen, one of women’s football’s most storied franchises, reached the WFA title game by defeating the Cali War 33-22. The War was Boston’s opponent in the 2019 WFA National Championship Game.
The Renegades seek to win their third national championship in a row. If successful, it will be the program’s sixth national title over all. Boston won three titles as the Militia (2010, 2011, 2014) and two as the Renegades (2018, 2019). The 2020 season was cancelled due to the pandemic.
